I have a small pond to demuck, 30 by 90 feet, and it's deep enough that I think it could be a great little swimming hole. It has an inflow of fresh water and a nice outflow of overflow, but it's filled with a few significant feet of what is commonly called pond muck. What is to be done? I am using muckaway and have taken out the huge tree branches. The location prohibits an excavator if that was even in my budget and it would require an emptying dredge which might screw everything up. Everything I search online seems to be selling incredibly expensive solutions. I have made a PVC gravity siphon so I can lower the water level by a foot or two if I need to after discovering that technique online, but my google-fu has come up short on how to move a few bottom feet of pond muck about fifteen feet over a berm. I'm hoping there's a work smarter not harder hack.
